Bio

Devon Greene was born David Greenberg in Maryland, but his family didn’t stay there long. The Greenberg family moved around the country, resting briefly in New York City and eventually settling in nearby suburban Bergen County, New Jersey. By this time, Young Dave had begun a love affair with the fantasy worlds of comic books and science fiction that still flourishes today. Comics would inspire Dave to explore the world of art, taking drawing classes both in and out of school. He would become an unofficial member of his school’s drama department and choir, the set decorator for his senior class musical, and the singer/keyboardist of a high school rock band.

In 1985, Greenberg attended Rutgers University, undertaking an English/Art double major. Both disciplines would point towards a path of even more detailed world building: Film! Greenberg graduated in 1989, and by the summer of 1990 was driving across the country to Los Angeles.

Within his first two weeks in L.A., he had a film related job at a small company which offered him an introductory glimpse into his own future in post production. Greenberg learned the ropes of production as a P.A., and worked a number of other set jobs until realizing his strongest skills were in post production. He worked as an apprentice editor at a time when cutting on film was becoming outdated, and digital editing was quickly taking its place. Adjusting quickly to the new format, Dave quickly jumped from assistant editing to editing small films and even producing post production. He’d serve as the co-producer of the Independent Feature, …Or Forever Hold Your Peace.

Greenberg would move to the world of television, assisting, and later editing on the long running show Law and Order, and its sister show Special Victims Unit. A lateral move to The Shield would help him become an editor for executive producer Shawn Ryan on shows like David Mamet’s The Unit, and Lie To Me.

Over time, Dave would discover that he was far from the only person with the name “David Greenberg” in the Film and Television business. Upon getting married, Dave and wife Nivla would adopt a new surname together, and Dave would officially change his name to what had previously been a writing alias: Devon Greene. As Devon, he’s Edited on a number of recognizable projects: Rizzoli and Isles, The Following, Stephen King’s The Mist, Scream, Lore, and most recently, back again with Shawn Ryan on S.W.A.T.

Devon Greene currently lives in Burbank Ca. with his wife and their dogs and children: Emerald Greene, and Forrest Greene.
